An American Legion Service Officer is a trained, often accredited advocate who provides free expert assistance to veterans and their families in navigating VA benefits, claims, and appeals. They act as knowledgeable liaisons, helping with disability claims, healthcare, education, and social services, while offering support to ensure veterans receive earned benefits.
When meeting with a Post Service Officer, (SO), there are some documents that you might need to provide so the SO may help more successfully. Such document are, but not limited to:
If you have served at least one day of active military duty since December 7, 1941, and were honorably discharged or you are still serving active military duty honorably, you are eligible for membership with The American Legion.
